What does a Roofer/Installer do at Springfield?

You will become a master of flat and low-sloped commercial roofs – we steer clear of super steep slopes and shingles. Ever heard of hot air welding? It’s cool, not literally though. Get ready to take the wheel and drive trucks, maneuver trailers, and operate a wide array of machinery that makes our roofing magic happen.

While we might not be competing in the World’s Strongest Man competition, you will need some muscle power. Expect to lift, carry, and move materials weighing over 50 pounds. But it is not all about upper body strength – you will be paying homage to Mother Nature, too, bending and kneeling, hoping she will bless us with blue skies and tan lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing and repairing flat and low slope roofs
  • Driving trucks and maneuvering trailers
  • Operating various equipment and machinery
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and kneeling

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work at heights (20-40 feet)
  • Pass a 10-panel pre-employment screening
  • Consent to a pre-employment background check

Location: Service area – State of Michigan, primarily Big Rapids to Mackinac Bridge

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays (with prior notice)

Not every CDL job is the same. Some keep you on the road for weeks at a time. Others have you hauling the same loads to the same places. This isn’t one of those jobs.

Springfield is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to support our operations by hauling equipment and materials for Springfield and select external customers. In this role, you’ll focus on driving and transport while working directly with our Fleet Manager, who oversees scheduling, maintenance, and compliance.

Every day brings something new: You’ll handle a variety of transport jobs, operate well-maintained equipment, and play a key role in keeping our jobsites safe and efficient.

This position is ideal for a professional driver who wants steady work, local or regional hauling, and a strong support system behind them.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Driving with purpose – Hauling roof equipment, materials, and machinery for Springfield Roofing and approved external customers.
  • Working with the Fleet Manager – Communicate equipment needs, report issues, and coordinate schedules to keep trucks road-ready.
  • Inspections & safety – Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Compliance-first driving – Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
  • Representing Springfield – Maintain a professional, courteous presence on job sites and at customer locations.

What We’re Looking For

  • CDL Class A license with a clean driving record
  • 2-3 years of commercial driving experience
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
  • Strong communication skills and reliability
  • Experience hauling equipment or flatbed loads
  • Mechanical awareness is helpful, but not required

Compensation will be based on demonstrated skills and ability, not solely on years of experience.
